DB Blog #13 – Final Countdown for Fund Matching

For the last 5 months we have had some wonderful donations, from both our customers and suppliers, towards our #PortsmouthPeriodPoverty campaign. Unfortunately there is just one month left to donate goods or pick up a pin badge in our trade shop (see a picture of the pin badge below). This also means that there is only one month remaining to have your JustGiving donation matched by CJS Environmental Ltd (up to £500 raised across this campaign will be doubled).

Please note, you have until the 31st of May to have your donation matched at:

Kindness Matters- Red Box Project Pin

For anyone new to our Portsmouth Period Poverty campaign, we are collecting unopened sanitary items, tights and pants in our trade shop and donations online. The products collected and funds raised go directly to The Red Box Project – Portsmouth North, who deliver much needed boxes to schools across the local area.

12% of girls in the UK have had to improvise sanitary items due to a lack of money, using anything from tissue paper to stuffed socks and ripped t-shirts. This issue is also an obstruction to education – around half of girls have missed a day of school because of their period (Plan International UK). We don’t believe (and we’re sure you don’t either) that young women should be forced to miss education because they cannot afford or don’t have access to the necessary products.

The Red Box Project has so far been a huge success with one local Portsmouth school seeing female attendance rise by a third after receiving their very own box.

When our campaign is over, there will still be lots of ways to support the Red Box Project. Raise awareness and join the conversation by following their social media pages, purchase one or more of the items on their amazon wishlist or find another Red Box Donation point to take your pads, wipes, pants and tights. It costs around £50 to supply one red box and it’s contents, but the difference it can make is priceless.
